A little Spectrum history...
Dr. Pector founded Spectrum in late 2000. Our first office was at 1220 Hobson Road. We no longer have an office at that location. Susan Matthew worked with us from 2001 until she left for another career opportunity in 2008. We moved to 1888 Bay Scott Circle in 2005. Martha Siomos joined our staff in 2005, and Dr. Manubolu in 2008.

We are delighted to announce the addition of Madhavi Manubolu, M.D., a board-certified family physician,  to our staff. She attended Sri Venkateswara Medical College in India and completed a three-year family practice residency at Cook County-Loyola-Provident in Chicago. Colleagues praise Dr. Manubolu as intelligent, compassionate, hard-working, good-natured, and sympathetic to patient concerns. She is available Tuesday through Friday mornings and some Saturdays, and also sees patients at Edward Hospital..

Susan Matthew departed on good terms in late 2008 to pursue a career change. We wish her all the best, and thank her for seven years of excellent professional care.
At Spectrum, we strive to help you achieve the best possible health and to increase your well-being so you can better enjoy what life offers. As board-certified, doctorate-level professionals, we offer comprehensive, compassionate care centered on you as a whole person. We aim to work with you as your partners in care: meeting you where you are, coaching rather than criticizing to help you move toward better health. We embrace diversity, and welcome patients of all ages, racial and ethnic backgrounds, & lifestyles. For science-based medicine with a personal touch, please consider us!

Information derived from this site or any associated links should not be taken as advice specifically for you, and is not a substitute for a visit with your personal physician. We encourage you to make an appointment with us to discuss your health concerns.

We take a whole-person view of your health, but our practice is based on traditional scientific medicine. We have resources to check for effectiveness of herbs and alternative methods and herb interactions with traditional medicines. We do not specialize in herbal treatments, bio-identical hormone replacement, or alternative medicine. If you are seeking an alternative-minded practitioner, we can recommend other area physicians.

New patients: Please download and complete the New Patient Registration Form, Preparing for your Visit, and health history form in the pale yellow box above. You can bring it to your appointment, or send it to us through Relayhealth or fax. Please arrange for previous records to be sent from your previous doctor. We encourage you to review other documents above.

Spectrum services
We provide comprehensive preventive (wellness) care and care for acute and chronic conditions for people of all ages, including infants, children, and adult men and women. This includes well-woman care (routine female checkups and contraception). We do not deliver babies, although we often consult with obstetricians on illnesses in pregnant women.

Procedures and testing
We offer on-site lab services including phlebotomy (blood drawing), lung function testing, EKG, Holter monitors, neurologic testing (EMG and nerve conduction studies), and minor procedures including skin lesion or toenail removals, IUD insertion, colposcopy and endometrial biopsy. Radiology services are available at Naperville Imaging Center, an independent imaging center that shares our building.  If your insurance plan allows testing at NIC, they offer prompt and convenient x-ray, bone density screening, ultrasound, stress tests (including nuclear stress tests), ultrafast heart CT scan, CT, MRI, virtual colonoscopy, nuclear medicine tests (bone scans, thyroid scans, etc.), PET scans, and more.

Online access At present, established patients may register at Relay Health to contact our staff by email! When we begin using eClinicalWorks, we will use a different portal. (See below under electronic records). Do not use email for urgent, emergency concerns! Please allow 24 to 48 hours for appointment or billing personnel to respond, and up to 5 days for referral processing. If you haven't heard from us in that time, please call the office, 630-305-3025. In your email, please list the reason for your request in the subject line. For appointment email requests, include a preferred day and time for an appointment (such as Tuesday afternoon, Thursday morning) and give a phone number or email address where we can reach you. For email to clinicians or nurse, simple questions will not incur a charge.  There is a charge for moderate-complexity consults, which insurance does not pay.

Prescription refills Generally, we give you enough refills at your visit to last until we want to see you. If you are running low on a prescription, please call or email to make an appointment! If you need a few weeks' supply until your appointment, please ask your pharmacy or mail-order prescription service to contact us for refills.

Non-covered services In 2009, we established a small non-covered service annual fee that we encourage you to pay in advance. Otherwise, you incur expenses one at a time for forms, authorizations, etc. It costs us to bill for these fees. Pay a small price now to enjoy convenience later.

Electronic records We began using  SOAPware, an electronic medical record system, in 2005. SOAPware greatly improved our efficiency and quality of care. Their updated products are still an excellent, cost-effective option for small practices. For several reasons, we decided to transition to E-Clinical Works, another popular electronic record system, in July 2009. Please be patient during our transition, which will bring even more features, including online patient access to records via a web portal.

Dr. Pector has researched many aspects of multiple birth and prematurity and published and spoken on related topics. We have useful articles for parents of multiples of all ages, from infancy to adolescence. The death of one of Dr. Pector's twin sons inspired much of her research and her continued interest in multiple-birth issues. Dr. Pector is on the Board of Directors of
National Perinatal Association, a multidisciplinary organization that integrates professional and parent input to ensure the best possible health for mothers and babies.

Spectrum staff does not have special training in medical treatment of children with special needs, but we are sympathetic to the parenting challenges. Check the resources for multiples, loss or special needs at the
Multiplicity link, and feel free to read some of Dr. Pector's Articles.

Dr. Manubolu has additional experience in volunteer care for the underserved in India and Chicago, and has participated in clinical research in both locations.

Some notes on Dr. Pector's other pages

In addition to her other talents, Dr. Pector has a trait known as synesthesia. She hears colored music pitches and associates colors with numbers, letters and days of the week.  To learn more about this intriguing condition, check out
the Synesthesia link.

If you're in a reflective mood, some of Dr. Pector's thoughts about spirituality and faith topics are at
Lumina Dei. Inspiring quotes, gentle humor & uplifting meditations for the distressed or grieving from a variety of traditions are at the Lost and Found.

We look forward to learning about your own challenges, perspectives and interests. As professionals who care for the whole person, we find that the diversity of the human experience and resilience of the human spirit is one of the greatest rewards of a career in medicine!
